What even is marketing?
Marketing can make or break a company. Marketing roles have a variety of different tasks but the main focus of this job title is the function that links the consumer, customer, and public to the marketer through information. A successful marketer will be someone who can understand and effectively articulate what customers and competitors are doing. Becoming the voice of the customer is particularly valuable to this role.
Marketing is specifically important to a company’s success because how the product is marketed brings in customers. For example the company Sour Patch Kid not only advertises through commercials/ social media but their packaging is fun and draws the customers attention. A customer is more likely going to go for a product that is eye appealing then plain packaging.I know personally when I go to the store I tend to get products that i’ve either heard of before or draw my attention.When a company dedicates time to making sure their product is eye appealing, advertised efficiently, and put in a place in the store where it can grab the customers attention the product will be more successful than a product that didn’t focus on these crucial areas.
Marketing for a company isn’t easy. Focusing on customers’ feedback and how to make a product better is also very important. We as a society are always growing and looking for the next best thing. To keep a customer coming back it is important to stay on top of “the next best thing”. Focus on what other competitors are doing.For example the companies Ulta and Sephora are two huge competitors. In order to keep customers coming in both companies keep up to date on popular products. They wouldn’t want to lose customers by not having certain products, so It makes it very important to pay attention to popular items.
Being in a marketing role there are plenty of ways to be successful in this job title but I think the most important way is to truly be passionate about the work you do. Few people are quite as addictive to be around as those with a spirited, passionate energy for their jobs. Sharing positive energy with your coworkers you’ll find it’s contagious, benefiting everyone around you and bringing your project ideas even greater success.
